SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVOCACY PROGRAM. On September 01, 2004, the Child Advocacy Team officially added to it's staff a Volunteer Special Education Advocate. Any parent, foster parent, relative care-taker, foster care worker or any interested party may contact the Child Advocacy Team for assistance in Special Education matters including, without limitation, having your child tested for special education and having a volunteer special education advocate attend IEP Planning meetings. The service is limited to children who are court wards of the Family Division of the Genesee County Circuit Court through a Child Protection Proceeding and is subject to availability and eligibility requirements. This service is being provided to children and families of Genesee County and was designed and is being implemented based upon the feed back that CAT received from the Foster Families, DHS Foster Care Workers, Parents, Relative Carettakers and from members in the community.
